Semitech Semiconductor Enters Into Channel Partnerships With Distributors
In Italy, South East Asia, Taiwan, China, Japan, And Korea

Uni Electronics, Consystem, EDOM, ADNET Global to Offer Semitech's Full Line of Power Line Communications Devices

Singapore, September 28, 2010 - Semitech Semiconductor, a provider of power line communications solutions that enable the transformation of the electricity grid into a smart grid, today announced that it has signed four distribution and rep agreements whereby Uni Electronics, Consystem s.r.l, EDOM, and ADNET Global Ltd. will distribute Semitech's full line of smart grid semiconductor solutions. These partnerships give Semitech broad coverage and an expanded sales presence in Asia and Europe.

Serving as Semitech's sales director for the Japanese region will be Masanori Sugane, who has more than three decades of experience in management and sales for technology companies, having recently held a similar position with Teridian Semiconductor.

In order to deliver targeted support and customer service, each distributor partner will focus on a key region. EDOM, one of the largest and most reputable electronic component distributors in Taiwan, China and South East Asia, will handle distribution in those regions; Uni Electronics will distribute Semitech products in Japan. Consystem will distribute Semitech's solutions to the Italian market and ADNET will make them available in Korea.

Leveraging its multi-frequency technologies, Semitech has developed the devices that enable the world's most reliable communications over power lines. According to Mike Holt, vice president of sales and marketing for Semitech, "Our newly formed channel relationships with these top tier distributors and sales reps in Asia and Europe will help Semitech garner important design wins, as well as allow us to work closely with our customers in each region." Due to harsh noise and variations in equipment and differing standards, communications over the power grid are difficult. Semitech uses modulation and signal processing technology that is adjustable in speed but also "frequency agile" to deliver highly robust and reliable communications.

"Power line communications is a critical application for Italian smart grid projects," said Fabio Rimondini, managing director at Consystem s.r.l. "Semitech's products have experienced strong customer adoption in the Italian market." Ping Lu, vice president of new business development for EDOM Technology, noted that, "Semitech is a proven leader in smart grid communications, offering the industry's best performance power line communications solutions. Semitech's product portfolio is enabling our smart grid customers to design their products seamlessly, cost-effectively and reliably - all while maintaining the best performance available.

Semitech's chips are available now from Uni Electronics, Consystem, EDOM, and ADNET Global.

About Semitech Semiconductor Pte. Ltd.
Semitech Semiconductor, headquartered in Singapore, provides the semiconductor devices that enable the transformation of the electricity grid into a smart grid. By connecting utilities to their customers, Semitech's chips help to transform homes into energy-aware "smart homes" that react to conditions on the grid, thus implementing a worldwide communications network based on the existing power grid.

Semitech's devices are used in smart meters, smart grid monitors and street light controllers to implement a connected system that is significantly more reliable and flexible than existing approaches - and interoperates well with prior deployments.
